Gay Marriage Ethics Paper - 2490 Words

Gay Marriage Soc 120 Amy Lyons June 27, 2011 Just because someone doesn’t love the same way as you do does not make them wrong or make them crazy, it makes them unique. Majority of people around the world feel that marriage should be between a man and a woman and that gays should not have that right because they believe being gay is morally wrong. If being gay is morally wrong then why are their gay people? That is like saying being white is morally wrong. People honestly who believe this don’t really stop and think outside the box and think that what is in the bible is right. If you look at the ethical reason behind why people believe that gay marriage is wrong, it is purely due to discrimination. There are no real reasons why gay†¦show more content†¦Since these people have no biological bond with their gender, can they really be demanded to marry a certain gender. There is no certain way to determine what people with this disease will look like, but we can at least not judge based on appearances alone. Many people ask themselves why gays and lesbians even want to attempt to get laws passed and allowed legal marriages. Why would they want to be married? Are they not happy with the relationship in which they have? Gays and lesbians are just like heterosexuals, they want their marriages recognized by the law. They are like any couple and want a marriage to consecrate devotion and love for each other. They want that simple document that the government gives to heterosexuals which binds two people into a marriage. Regardless of what is decided by the courts about the legality of statutes banning same-sex marriage, Americans have begun to change and are continuing to move toward accepting it much the same as they did in the past with interracial marriages. Back in the day, races weren’t allowed to mix or get married. If a white fell in love with an African American it was frowned upon and the African American would have been hung if found that they were also attracted to the white. It wasn’t right for them to mix but now they can get married and mix races and it is okay. It is like the same for gay marriage, it is frowned upon but it is okay to be gay just not to beShow MoreRelatedMarriage Equality For Same Sex Couples1480 Words   |  6 Pagesily Studies Interest Research Project Marriage Equality for Same-Sex Couples in Australia. Companies Are Treating The Animals We Will Ultimately Consume

In America, our everyday lives tend to revolve around our food choices. The average consumer veers towards the quick and easy food options. Without prior knowledge, an individual could be consuming contaminated meat products that were produced on a factory farm. Since the 1960’s, factory farming has accounted for over 99% of the meat sold in the United States (Zacharias, 2011). The move towards large, factory farms saves meat industry millions of dollars a day. These farms pose a huge risk to public health and environmental safety. Currently, four major companies produce 85% of all the beef in the United States (Bernice, 2014). It is important to examine how these companies are treating the animals we will ultimately consume. Knowing what these animals are fed, the conditions they are kept in and the effect that these factory farms have on the environment is essential for our health. But are there other options other than Big Ag corporations? Smaller, family owned farms might be the key to better nutrition and a smaller, ecofriendly footprint. Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) are defined as agricultural operations where animals are kept and raised in confined situations (Foundation). The EPA estimates that there are over 450,000 CAFOs in the United States (Humane Society). These operations can hold over 100,000 chickens, 10,000 pigs or 1,000 cattle. The 1975 • The 1975 free essay sample

There is a point in every teen girl’s life when she finds herself stuck deep in the mold of â€Å"The Average Teenage Girl.† During my young teen years it was a time of Uggs, leggings, and the famous black Northface jacket. I found myself in this outfit – this mold – quite frequently, trying to keep up with what was â€Å"cool.† At this time, I typically only listened to the iTunes top 10 list or whatever music my peers were enjoying. However, the beginning of sophomore year I stumbled upon a new band, The 1975, and their album by the same name. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this alternative rock band’s music. The first song I heard was â€Å"M.O.N.E.Y.† with an eccentric rock/electronic/alternative sound. I was drowning with astonishment at this beautiful new sound flooding through my headphones. It took one bus ride home to listen to the entire album and fall in love. This is what surprised me about â€Å"The 1975† – three of the songs don’t have any lyrics at all, and I don’t know the words to half the songs on the album. Instead, they spoke to me through guitar, piano, electronic music, and drums. The electronic music beats waves of delight through me. The bass guitar holds steady in the background of almost every song, competing with the piano and drums. Each song explores different emotions, and hearing this album made me feel satisfied, whole. By listening to this album, I began developing into a real person, with wants, beliefs, ideas, and a perspective all my own. I found myself in a loving relationship with Converse, writing poems, and dressing in a unique manner I personally found attractive; I learned who Madison really was. The Dangers Of Bombs Essays - Improvised Explosive Devices

The Dangers Of Bombs Essays - Improvised Explosive Devices The Dangers Of Bombs Today more and more kids believe that bombs are fun to experiment with, but do not realize the dangers associated with even the simplest bombs. Although curiosity can be a great characteristic to have, curiosity when it comes to bombs should simply not be tolerated because all bombs produce an uncontrolled reaction leading to destruction that could harm to, or even kill someone. Even bombs in a controlled experiment by experts can be quite dangerous. Take into account the fact that many died during experiments with the atom bomb. Although the experts said it would be fine to watch and be in a close vicinity to the blast, they didnt know about the radiation caused by the reaction. This caused numerous deaths. Although most kids wont be experimenting with atom bombs, many dangers are associated with smaller types of bombs such as pipe bombs. Pipe bombs are especially lethal because they produce lots of shrapnel. Shrapnel is debris given off by the explosion (metal pieces of the pipe, or maybe even nails, glass, or bolts) that can cause lots of harm due to its velocity. Many kids believe that they are experts, and that nothing will ever happen to them, but it defiantly can. Many incidents have occured of kids being hurt or killed by their own bomb. One case is that of a kid building a pipe bomb in my area. He stuffed a lot of gunpowder into a pipe with nails and he started to screw the cap of the metal pipe on. The grinding of the metal caused sparks and ignited the bomb, and he lost his hand and will not ever be able to have children. All this happened because of a simple bad decision that he will have to remember for the rest of his life. Terroristic acts have plagued the entire world for centuries. These primitive acts of violence have an everlasting effect on communities thoughout the world. What may seem as icolated acts of hatred among cirtain groups can effect many generations down the line. To this day if one were to bring up Oklahoma City one of the first things that comes to mind is the horrifying terror felt by the people thoughout the Federal building on that mild April day in 1995; not to mention the family members greif and the shock that was felt througout the nation. This isn't the only major bombing in my lifetime. One remembered vividly by the nation is the bombing of the World Trade Center. The devestation in this incidident was caused by a simple fetilizer bomb. Taking this time to do this essay has helped me realize how dangerous bombs really can be. Meeting with the Delaware Fire Marshall changed the way I make my decisions. Looking back on my descision with the dry ice bomb, I found that I should have thought of the concequences before I acted. This whole experience has helped me realize that bombs are very destructive. All in all I hope that I dont have to go though this experience again in my life time.
